Courses

Courses are given regularly to instruct psychotherapists in the three methods of therapy. The course for each of the three methods consists of a theoretical half-day and group supervision. After the theoretical part each participant can start the therapy in his/her own work setting. Every two or three months there is a half-day of group supervision on differentiation therapy and phase therapy and a half-day on basis therapy for a total of five or six sessions.

Who is the course intended for?
The course for basis therapy is open to psychotherapists with a recognised training in psychotherapy for adults; the differentiation therapy and phase therapy courses are open to those specialised in child and adolescent therapy. It is preferred that therapists for adults also follow the theoretical part of the child and adolescent treatment methods since the basis therapy was developed from the methods for children and adolescents.

A separate course in differentiation therapy is given to play therapists. This consists of two days of theory (four half-days) followed by group supervision as described above. On the first day of theory the focus is on the process in a child’s therapy; on the second day of theory it is on differentiation therapy.

The designation after the various courses is as follows:

  • Phase therapists are psychotherapists who have completed both the differentiation therapy course and the phase therapy course.
  • Basis therapists are psychotherapists who have completed the basis therapy course.
  • Differentiation therapists are play therapists who have completed the differentiation therapy course.

The literature for the course consists of the two books written about this subject and a reader which is newly compiled for each course.
